A Temporary Set Back Doesn't Effect the Mind ..If You Don't Let it. ???

A Temporary Set Back Doesn't Effect the Mind ..If You Don't Let it. ???

So here it is the last month of 2013.  The last month to get in my final goals for 2013.  The excitement and anticipation for 2014 beating at my door for me to see more dreams and goals become realities.

One goal was to be finally at my goal weight by Dec 31, 2013. Well, I can say I probably won't be losing those 30 lbs in the next two weeks.  But, I am healthy and how many people can say, I rode 50+ miles and jump off that bike and ran 3 miles??  I can and I have to be proud of that.

I set a goal of swimming, running, biking, hiking, or anything but that would equal 3,000 miles.   I am 288.78 miles short as of today.  But I will be close to my goal.  Considering the rebuilding of my body, I won't be upset if I don't make it to 3,000 miles. 2014 I will surpass that 3,000 miles, and that's a promise!

I did get my new hip in March.  After 12 weeks of a hip replacement I was riding 12 miles outside.  Within 3 months I was up to 8 miles of walking/running.  I was hiking up 6,000 ft in elevation on mountain trails.  I had completed three half century rides by October and I was ready to get the shoulder fix so I could start triathlons again.

The should reconstruction was done on Dec 2nd.  10 days after surgery, I have 40% range of motion in my shoulder.  Prognosis is good and I can finally start swimming at the end of this week!  I'm scared since I haven't been in the water since March but I know my mind is strong and I will be OK!
Happy Juice injected and ready for surgery with My ROCK by my side.

3 days later. Looking Good

What I didn't plan was the broken ankle that happened on November 30th.

The hike with Princess Sammy when I thought I sprained my ankle

5 days later hubby said I had to go get it checked. It was still swollen
They wanted to cast me but since I can't put more than 3 lbs of pressure on the shoulder for 4 weeks, I got the BOOT!  Or Shaabooty which I can do a dance too. :)

Because of this broken ankle, I'm not sure if I will get those 288.78 miles completed.
But that is okay!  I still accomplished so much.

I had an amazing year even with the surgeries and set backs.  I had some wonderful vacations crossing the country twice in our RV; driving the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Seattle with my niece and nephew for 10 days; and chilling on a Houseboat at Lake Powell for a week.  If there is one thing I can request (besides staying active) is DRIVE THE PCH and take at least two weeks.  It was AMAZING.  Then go to Lake Powell and relax.

I already had to cancel my first Time Trial 50 mile event on January 18, 2014 because of the ankle.  (I told my doctor I could have done it with one arm, but not with one arm and one leg).  I have three doctors, my hip surgeon, my shoulder surgeon and my primary.  Let's just say they all three think I am NUTS!  I think my friend Kandi and I have the same diagnosis, Stubbornitis.

So, with all this said, I will NOT let this deter me, depress me, or control me in a negative way.   My dreams will come! My goals will be accomplished, they will just be postponed another 6 weeks.

In the meantime, I will practice what Yoga I can with my friend and new coach, Debra Anderson (http://www.debraandersen.com) up here in the High Desert.  Once I am free to start running and riding, I will be under the coaching of Kandi @ http://train-n-tri.blogspot.com/.   I have BIG plans for 2014 which I can still accomplish with the help of these two wonderful women. One keeping me busy and stretching then one training me to cross the finish line as injury free as possible.

I want to do two half Ironman's.  (Silverman in October is already registered so I just need to pick another one).  I want to do a few century rides!  I want to climb Mt. Whitney!  I want to Kayak with the whales!  I want to do a few Olympic and sprint distance triathlons.  But, most importantly, I want to Live Life.  I want to Love Freely! I want to be the best Wife I can!  And, I want to Inspire others.

I also want to restart my internet auto accessories business, add to it and continue to help my husband's business grow working side by side with him.   I think that will keep me busy!

I just became a consultant for Thirty-One Bags.  So come on, I know all of us girls love these bags.
www.mythirtyone.com/452961/ is my website.  We can put TRI on anything! :)

I also want to give a shout out to a few of my Sponsors.  One is energy bits.  I am giving those bits lots of credit right now!  I think it is because of these bits, I'm healing so fast, not craving sweets and keeping my high energy. I also hate to say this (it might be too much information) but they kept me regular while traveling cross country.  #Empoweredbybits
